(U) Some of the world’s most eminent scientists from the late 1800's and early 1900's have claimed to have witnessed apport phenomena. These include Sir William Crookes (1832-1919), British chemist and physicist, discoverer of the element thallium and former president of the British Association for the Advancement of Science (88); Alfred Russel Wallace (1823-1913), British naturalist and co- discoverer, with Charles Darwin, of the theory of evolution (89); Johann K.F, Zoellner (1834-1882), professor of physical astronomy at the University of Leipzig, Germany (90). ri 4. I have retained one of these hands in my own, firmly resolved not to let it escape.
