It already has a certain foundation in China and has attracted a great deal of wide-spread attention. In order to promote development. in the study of the system theories of Chinese medicine and to strengthen ties, the Special Commission on Chinese Medicine System Theories of the Chinese Society of Somatic Sciences is actively organizing a conference and specialty symposium to be convened in Chengdu in the fall of 1990 to discuss the direction and special characteristics of the specialty of system theories in Chinese medicine and to study the system concepts in basic theory in Chinese medicine, especially the concept of man as an open, complex giant- scale system.
