I"- MEMORANDUM FOR: THE RECORD SUBJECT : Continuation of MXULTRA, Subproject 66 1. The purpose of Project IviXULTRA, Subproject No. 66 is to support the research program on the determinants of alcohol intoxi- one year starting 16 September 1 9 3 S through 16 September 1959. 2. The scope of the project will include: (a) Continuation of double-blind experimental studies of drug effects, employing various "alcohol placebos" and chemical extenders developed by TSS/CD; (b) Comoaring alcohol effects on a small sample of sub- jects on whom repeated observations can be made during periods of naturally induced stress, mood de- pression and fatigue; (c) Observation and prediction of the behavioral changes accompanying alcohol consumed in such "natural" social settings as bars and clubs. (d) Special advisory services and consultations byjflHHW (formerly reimbursed under MXULTRA, Subproject N*o. 63, which has been discontinued). 3. The project, will continue to be financ-ed through the Society for the Investigation of Human Ecology, Inc. The Society acts in the capacity of a cover organization.
