Abramson, who sponsored work at two locations : This work started prior t0 mum with RD-37 in , =52 and was carried forward with Sup-Projects 1.53 1.54, 27, 1954-leoo, and 40, 1956. These projects seem to be the nucleus of the LSO program and the three were done at both locations. Dr. Abramson, as well as doing work himself, subcontracted research to other specialists. The first years' . work seemed aimed at characterizing the various effects of LSD With the aim of ultimately producing a manual for field use. During Sub-Project ho. 7, money was provided 'to sub-contract work in .be , ields of brain enzyme and nerve metabolism." As an indication of the scope: "Another psychiatrist will inde- pendently analyze the verbatim recordings in over 100 experiments in which LSD-25 has already been given." Sub-Projects tic. 27 continued the earlier emphasis to understand the total effects Of LSD by studying ."tissue metabolism" and LSD influence on embryologies! development. In addition, work was undertaken to look .or LSD antidotes and blocking agents. Sub-Project Mo. 40 continued the previous work and added aerosol delivery studies.
