If considerable synergism is found to exist, two possibilities must.be considered: (l) that a particularly useful combination may be found, and (2) that a Particular combination may be hazardous because cf its effect on respiration or some other vital function. To minimize hazards,- animal experiments should nrecede human exneriments. Proposal : Allocation of $1000 for animal experiments, to be drawn -on as needed. That exneriments be conducted informally at Stanford without a specific grant, and with appropriate cover.
