;i:i SUB-PROJECT NO. 30 (see also No. 13) PRINCIPAL RESEARCHER AND LOCATION : Ft. Detrick, Maryland OBJECTIVE AND DETAILS OF WORK : To add money to a petty cash fund to support an Agency activity at Ft. Detrick, Md. The purpose and use of the fund was (1) to purchase materials when unusual security considerations made it difficult to get financial support from more customary sources (that is, when proper funds for a given activity 'would require an undesirable amount of written or oral justification), (2) the purchase of material when use of other procurement channels would delay operations to an excessive extent; and (3) to pay for services, travel, honoraria, supplies, etc. Expenses were made for cabin rental, a suitcase for biological/chemical sampling, animal food, rental cars for sampling station, a trailer for transporting test- equipment , a Czech dictionary, rifle slugs, etc. APPROXIMATE TIME SPAN : 1958-1960 SIGNIFICANT ASPECTS : Potential -measure of office funds.
