The govemment of Guatemala repor tediy plans to take extreme measures against the free press of Watemala. The following paragraphs show how the Guatemalan Government supports and treats the Guatemalan Communist press. b. During March, 1953, the Guatemalan “Yovemment bought $60,000 worth of printing equipment (3 linotype soumber 14 1 dudce, press and accessories), in Costa Kica. c. The above-stated equipment was shipped to Guatemala (?) in July 1953, and was installed in "Talleres Graficos S.A.", printers of the FGT daily "Tribuna Fopular" and other Communist propaganda material. d. "Talleres Uraficos" was established 14 4ugast 1953 by a group of well-known Communists including Carlos Rene VALLU, member of the Central and Political Committees of the IGT, and administrator of "Tribuna Popular." 2. If the above is impossible, Headquarters suggests that this information be placed in a LIONIZ=R bulletin and that one cory be sent to each delegation of the OAS Conference. 3.
