Thank you for your letter of 26 October
about the level of preparedness which is
needed against the continuing possibility
of a surprise visit to the UK by President
Ami n.
Subject to the views of his colleagues,
the Prime Minister agrees with the Foreign
and Commonwealth Secretary's view that some
degree of relaxation in our precautions could
prudently be initiated; and he would be
content with the revised arrangements
summarised in your letter.
I am sending copies of this letter to
Bob Morris (Home Office), Roger Facer (MOD),
Martyn Baker (Department of Trade) and
Martin Vile (Cabinet Office).
