He said that Dr. Louis Jolyon West, . chief of psychiatry at the university from ( 1954 to 1969, conducted the animal re-' search with LSD in the early 1960's. Dr. West, now chief of psychiatry at the University of California, Los Angeles, said that his research had been confined to animals.
