The African Liberation Day Steering Committce has announced
a m a s s "African Liberation Day'"demons tration for the Washington;
D.C. area on 27 May '72. In addition simultaneous "African Libera-
tion Dq" demonstrations are planned for San Francisco, in the Carib-
bean, and Toronto, Canada.

The demonstrations are designed to show support b r the s m a l l
black guerrilla liberation armies of South Africa, Namibia (southwest
Africa) and Rhodesia, as well as the Portuguese colonies of Angola,
Mozambique and Guinea-Bissau.
"African Liberation Day" aSiivities in Washington reportedly
will include dcmonstrations in front of the Portuguese and South African
Embassies, the Rhodesian Information Office and a rnass demonstration
at Me-ridian Hill P a r k , 16th and Euclid Streets, N.W.

Among those scheduled to appear at thc Washington affair a r e
Iniamu Baraka (LeRoi Jones), the radical black-militant poet and one
of the planners of the recent Black Political Convention at Gary,
Indiana; m e m b e r s of the Black Congressional Caucus: Huey P. Newton
and Ericka Huggins the Black Panther Party; the Rev. Ralph David
Abernathy of the Southern Chris tian L e a d e r s hip Conference; and mem-
bers of s o m e of the African liberation armies.
A number of persons, including Stokely Carmichael and H. R a p
Brown, have. endorsed the proposed demonstrations.

chairman of the lot-a1 coordinating committee and wilt handle all
arrangements for the D. C . dcmonstrations. The ALDSC has estimated
10, 000 pcoplc will attcntl the "African Liberation Day" demonstrations.
