student-dody, The University of Oklahom does not kaw an International Mouse ae
such for the foreign students. ost of the foreign students live in the sam kink
of housing as the Amrican stujents on camus. There are hovever several foreign
nattomlity clubs ineluding the [atin American clubs and the Arab Club. There is
4n addition a rather large Forean and Chinese population at the University. The ori cnta-
tion progran.so far at the University has. teen rather. roor although they do see the
need for developnent of a rore effective program and are inteniing to institute a new
program for the 56-57 year. The University. of Oklahom ie very unique with respect
to ite foreign student rrogram There is an elaborate organisational stucture desizn-
ed expressly for the purpose of integrating the : vreign studert into the life of the
comunity. This structure is characterised by a coordinator for the entire foreign
student rogram who has working under him five sub-dire dors, each head of a dif-
ferent geocra. nical area of concern. Under each sub-dire cor is a student dizector,
also ress sible for that ares of concern. The foreign student program conrittee
also includes representatives of the Student Government, delegates from the inter
fraternity council, the Panhellenic Council, the press, the International Olud and Tpredens
others, "is foreign student progran is o¥ murse headed by the Academic Dean and

again structurally the organisation seem salmst perfec. ce Student Semto is well

which esvhasizes activites nost mleculated to wntribute to the enricoment of the
students’ general education, Again fadlities at the University are excellent for the
adie wmnt of this purpose. My juigemnt is that on the vhole the Student Government
at the University of Oklahom is protuably azong the higher ranking of our dmrian
Student Sovernment in achieving their purposes. Fevertheless, ther is still a signifi-
cant difference between the structure and poligy of the Student Government as it is put
on paper andi in its acual implementation. Ons of the chief problems seem to te the
apathy of the student dody in those activities whic concern the big Red, Red being

quality of the leadership which I met at the University one can say that the develop-

The student leader vith vhom I we most actively associated with during my stay at
the University was Jin Johnson, the President of the Senate. Jin struck m as being
a wrr intelligent and interested. student, However, with a somvwhat superficial

Narland sreathwesth = Féub President of the Oklahom University Student Semste
made ynown to m his interest {na the Foreign Leadership Project although in an.
attemt to discuss this crojec itself, < did not have the feeling that he very well
understood its nature or the structure of the projed as we had outlined it {z= our
