BOMBING MATTERS
This is the case in which four young Negro girls were
killed in the bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church in
Birmingian, aAlapaa, ou S/ /15/63. ays
On the evening of 9/18/63, i .
delivered various items of evidence collected 2 e cr e@
search of the instant bombing. ‘This material consisted of (1)
pieces of heavy gauge wire from the wire screen covering over the
windows in the ladies lounge (2) pieces of window frame from windows
in the ladies lounge (3) fragments of drapery material from drapes
covering the windows in the ladies lounge (4) fragment of metal fram
from screens covering wi ndowe in ladies lounges (5) scrapings from
window sill of windows in ladies lounge (6) piece of red plastic
insulated wire found on floor among debris in ladies lounge (7) piec
of red plastic insulated wire taken from a bell signal system used
in the church and (8) pieces of concrete from Oldsmobile and Chev-
rolet outside of the church.
The examinations of these materials are now complete.
No residues were found on any of the submitted items which were
indicative of a specific explosive. The red plastic insulated wire
found on the floor among the debris in the ladies lounge Was a coppe)
coated steel wire similar in all respects to a wire used in jacketed
telephone "JKp" station wire,
The Birmingham Office is being advised of the above
results by teletype and a noport is gone sea ae
