stated that he had been giving the matter of the bombing
of the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church a great deal of thought and in connection
with the reward of $50,000 offered by local author d
offered by local authorities desired to furnish the
following suggestion.
He stated that the appropriate local authorities should consider
placing a motorcycle officer at each one of the Negro churches and established
Negro meeting places in the City of Birmingham. These officers should be
retained on a round-the-clock basis so that if any future efforts are made to
bomb such churches or meeting places the officers, while unable to actually
prevent the bombing, would be able to pursue vehicles and thereby identify
the perpetrator of the crime. Lie
