NARRATIVE OF OFFENSE
The Sixteenth Street Baptist Church (Negro), located
on the northwest corner of Sixteenth Street and Sixth
Avenue, North, Birmingham, Alabama, was bombed at about
10:22 A.M. on September 15, 1963, Four teen-age girls
were killed and sixteen other church members were injured,
Examination of scene ravealed that explosion had occurred
along the east wall of the church and at the foot of
the stairs leading from the ground level to the main
floor. The explosion caused extensive damage to the church
and numerous windows were broken out in the neighborhood. .
It was concluded that a high order explosive was used and
the damage caused was approximately equivalent to that
of an explosion of about ten sticks of dynamite,
