Due to the extensive investigation in this case and
the nature of the crime, the Birmingham Office was given
authority to conduct surveys for the purpose of determining
the feasibility of microphone cover ari

On July 7, 1964,ASAC Jensen of the Birmingham Office
telephonically advised tha the surveys indicated the ,
microphone surveillance on could be installed with full
security assured.
In view of the emergency nature of this matter and
the time element, ASAC Jensen was given permission by Section
Chief C. L. McGowan to proceed with the installation. Date, time
and symbol number of installation will be submitted
