SHORES was home alone at the time and was not injured. No threats were received prior to explosion, which occurred at the. southwest corner of the house, where the garage, which is part of the house, is located. A crowd of about 1,000 Negroes . gathered and hurled stones at Birmingham Police Department officers attempting to control them and preserve the crime scene. Several police officers received injuries from. stones and several Police Department tires were slashed.
