» Malley contacted
SAC Ingram, Birmingham, and suggested Birmingham
determine whether there is any independent verification
of these developments other than the informant.
Mr. Mailey advised SAC Ingram that it was the
Bureau's feeling that if independent verifiagation of the
AHP action could he obtained, this might well be the
appropriate time to hit Chambliss and possibly some of
the other suspects on the basis that Chambliss or others
were going to be the “fall guys." SAC Ingram was advised
that Birmingham, of course, had the best view of the
possibilities of such action and whether it might in any
way prejudice other facets of the case but it was felt d
such should be considered. Birmingham was requested to
advise whether the independent verification could be
obtained and if so, at such time to furnish facts and
recommendations with reference to hitting Chambliss and
the other suspects as suggested.
