Room a Gandy SUBJECT: UNKNOWN SUBJECTS; BOMBING OF ‘OSIXTEENTH STREET BAPTIST CHURCH, BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA, 9/15/63 BOMBING MATTERS The Birmingham Office has advised that the U, S&S. Attorney, Macon Weaver in Birmingham contacted SAC Raymond Faisst and advised that U. &. District Judge Clarence W. | Allgood desires a conference today, 12/30/63, concerning the possibility of giving the current Federal Grand Jury in Birmingham some sort af summary in February, 1964, concerning developments in the bombing of the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church. SAC Faisst is meeting with Judge Allgood today and 4% should be noted that Judge Allgood is very friendly to the Bureau; SAC Faisst will obtain particulars concerning the request of Judge Allgood but will make no commitment without prior clearance from the Bureau, -_* In this regard it should be noted that our investigation of the bombing of the church does not indicate any basis for Federal jurisdiction since there is no indication of interstate transportation of explosives, ACTION: | | | Following the conference with Judge Allgood, SAC Faisst/-" will submit the particulars concerning the conference, an’ 1 - Mr. Mohr a } 1 - Mr, DeLoach oY old. _ foe 1 - Mr, Evans wo thee sf7 js f~..
