Taday, we and the CLA are untegrated at virtually every leyel of our operations. From Director Mueller's daily mectings with George Tenet and with CLA offinals at his twice-daily threat briefings, to our joint efforts in transnational investigat.ons, to our coordinated threat analysis at the Terrorist Threat Integration Center (TTC), tie FRI and the CLA have exihanced our uteraction al every leve., This wtegration will be further enhanced later this year when the FBI's Counterterronsm Division (CTD) sollocates with the CLA's Counterterrorism Center (CTC) and the TTIC at a new faciinty in Viren. We have also worked hard to break clown the walls that have, at times, hampered coordination with our 730 VOU partners uy state and local law enforcement. We have more than doubled the number af Yo Sint Terrorism Task Forces OTTFs) since O/LI. We have processed thousands of secunty clearances to permit law =< enforcernent officers to share freely in our myestigative mformation, We have created and refined new in formation shang systems that electronically link us with our domestic partners. And, we have broug ght on ant experienced police chief froui-North Carolina te serve as our State and [Loeal Law Enforcement oordinatar . Given these lessons learned, what specific and concrete remedial measures ts the FRY, working with Federal, State and local partners, taking to ensure that the organization has enhanced its capacity to prevent future such catastrophic terrorist attacks on the homeland? Since September 11, 2001, the FBI has undertaken a mimber of initiatives to UUprove ‘nformabon share and coordifahen with our national and unternational partners. We began by quickly mereasing the number of TTF s across the country, bnagmg the number up from 38 to Bé nationwide. The ITTF s partner FBI personnel with hundreds of investigators from various federal, state, and local agencies and are important forse muluphers mn the feht agamst terror IST.
