Dear Mr. Brokaw:
I enjoy your TODAY ON NBC. I heard your program on October
15,1980 6:20 AM Albuquerque time, the presentation of which disturbed me.
i It was an interview whiots immediately following an interesting ABSCAM
i operation. The speaker was described as the executive Hirector of the American
Civil Liberties Union.
This person ijdicated he was :¢oncerned how persons were "targeted"
, for the ABSCAM operation. He suggested that something like a search
warrant be obtained before a person is "targeted."
Personally, I think it absurd to have a law whict. required a search
warrant-like device be ght ined to operate anAPSCAM operation involving
“= alaw maker in this case, appears and makes an offer of help for money.
ry . But, my point is, why didn't you present a person with an :mswer
| to the ACLU observations ?
I understand the APSCAM progrfam was very carefully planned and
monitored. And it woted, show ed scurrilous actions of some highly-placed
BS individuals. Surely some individual would have been available to you, :to
jes present after the ACLU interview, @ copiment on the ACLU concern. ~
Please don't let TODAY SHOW become a media like the United
Nations where one nation can make an accusation, in assembly, which makes
front page.....then the much later refutation is on an inside page.

May Ihear from you ?
