Reference is made to Bureau letter dated June 15, 1936, (file #62~39128), to the report of Special agent a. G. Berens, dated st Peshington, D. C,, Septenber &, 1956, and to the letter from the’ Atlante Office, dated October 12, 1936, in the above entit ease. A recent interview with Mr. . aynoné Pouinen, 217 West lin Street, Baltimore, Md., has pstablished that Car?Craw- fofd is identical with Carl\Johneon o whom Guinan had previously réferred as the person who haz been /associating with FrankCouinan dad who ia thought to be the eatF who may have approached Mr. iekam, executive director of eal Detective Story Mazazina. “Mur. Raymond Guinan advised thet he knew Carl Crawford es Carl John~ gon and that he now reealls that these two individuals are identical. In view of this information, the Nashville Office was \ advised by teletype to discontinue further investigation. Phe leads which the Nashville Office had set out in report of Special agent H. K. Johnson, dated at Nashville, October 1, 1936, were terminated by the letter dated October 7, 1936, addressed to this office by the New York Office, sopies of which were indicated for Nashville and Cineinnati,. In view of the information contained in the Atlanta Offiee letter to this office dated October 12, 1956, advising that Frenk Guinan would not admit the authorship of the lettersto the Real Detective Story Magazine, amd due to the fact that the Technieel Laboratory has definitely established that these letters were written on a typewriter which was used by Frmk Guinan, it appeare that no further leads which might develop pertinent information in connection RECUT é FEC GEL a TERY CF INVESTIGATION PADILN bs. 12 1936 AM. ¥ Ss wy es Yoon | vce a as fr , ¥ o> wwi 0 jizot & ten eT
