Your letter of April 20th has been received.
The FBI does not have any detailed information con-
cerning Al Capone which we can send you; however, you may wish
/ to refer to "The FBI Story," a book written by Don Whitehead, which
, contains some data relative to him. You may be able to obtain a
/ copy of it at your school or local Mbrary.
- For your information, Capone was sentenced on
October 24, 1931, for violation of the Federal income tax laws
which do not come within the investigative jurisdiction of the FBI.
He was released from the Federal Correctional Institution,
Termina) Island, California, on January 19, 1939, and died on
January 25, 1947, at Palm Island, Miami, Florida.
Enclosed is some literature which I hope you will
find of interest.
