Judge £LMER LAVIES, Middle Listrict of Tennessee, Nashville,
was appointed to the b:nch uron the recommendation of Senator KENNETH
McKELLAR. He has had a heart attack and is admittedly in very poor
health. Tho need of Tennessee approximately a year. ago. Senator MeKel .
MeKELLAR's recommeridation was that a permanent additional Judge be
appointed in this district, Sgnator #STss KEFAUVER's recommendation Was
that @ "roving Judge" be anpointed to handle the overloaded dockets
in the Zastern, M&ddle end western Districts of Tennessee, a
Recently Congressmen ALSEAT # on ‘ennounced for the Senate
against Senator KENNETH McAELLAR,. His recommendation before the
Judiciary House Sub-Committee was to the effect that they did not need
an additional J,,dge tn the Middle District of tennessee but needed
a Judge who would svend full time on the bench. This recommendation
W&S o™nosed by Senatop McKELUAR. The feeling concerning the “uppcint ent
of a Judge in the «*ddle District of Tennessee is very bitter end any
inquiries or suggestions mude concerning this situation will be immediate:

Clerk in Nashville. He was advised obviously of this check ~
