4 The May 13, 1948 issve of the "New York World Telegram”
carried an article urder the caption, "Polo Grounds Rally on
Palestine Labeled Red Front" with a subheading of "Hinstein,’
Sen. Thomas Urged to “‘ithdraw by Schultz Group." This article
Stated that a pro-Felestine rally which was to be held at the
Folo Grounds the following Saturday night, featuring Senator
Elbert D. Thomas (Dew., Utah) as a speaker and Dr, Albert Einstein
as sponsor, was branded a Communist front on that dey by the
Américan Jewish League against Communism.
The rally, according to the article, was promcted
by the seil-styted American Commtttee of Jewish Writers, Artists
and Selentists «> "Enterprise of the Comrminist farty. . .desirne
to capitalize on the legitimate yearnings of most és erican cars
for a homeland for their disinherited brethern of Enrore."

The article further stoted that both Senator Thomas
and Dr. Ginstein vere urged by the Jeague to disessocists
themselves from the rally, as were two other featured speakers.
