T.- WILKINSON, FEDERAL BUREAU OF PRISONS, VISTING ALCATRAZ FROM WASHINGTON, D.C., QUOTED IN PRESS AS SAYING, QUOTE INFORMATION SO FAR LEADS ME TO BELIEVE DEFINITELY THAT THESE THREE MEN, EACH OF WHOM I KNOW WELL FROM THE ATLANTA PENITENTIARY, MADE IT OFF THE ISLAND BUT NEVER MADE IT TO SHORE. THE TIDES AND WINDS THAT NIGHT WERE STRONG, THESE CONVICTS WERE NOT THE ATHLETIC TYPE. ONLY A TRAINED ATHLETE COULD MAKE SUCH A SWIM. UNQUOTE.
