Five of these hit the rocks or ground underneath and the bodies readily recovered. Of the other 30 suicides, 17 bodles#were recovered and 13 were not recovered. Therefore, of the definite jumpers from the bridge hitting the water and of the very probable jumpers from 1960- 1962, there were a total of 42 with 17 bodies found and 25 not found. 2s. bre dvised that if a jumper lands near the shoreline and there is an incoming tide, there is a good possibility of recovery of the body because the Coast Guard boats are only about 15 minutes from the bridge, and a marker is thrown over the bridge to mark the approximate location of the body.
