On 7/12/62, the body of LEON HOSS MELLICK, a truck driver from Colusa, Calif., wae recovered from San Francisco Bay near Golden Gate Race Track, Albany, Calif. MELLICK had jumped off of the Oakland~San Francisco Bay bridge on July 2, 1962. His body was somewhat decomposed and identification was effected by numerous personal papers, as well as clothing found on the body. Continuing contact with law enforcement agencies, U. 8. Coast Guard, and other facilities in the Bay area, together with various searches and inquiries, as well as interviews of associates, relatives, inmates and former inmates of escapees, has failed to develop any evidence that escapees were successful in making the mainland.
