dated “April 13, 1962. captioned as above, outlining the
program for the "Week for Wcrld Peace” of the American Friends
Service Committee (AFSC) fron April 15 through 21, 1962.

— 7 Concerning the ‘sponsoring erganization, the AFSC, a
- gource, who has furnished reliable infcrmaticn in the past,
furnished information on April 19, 1961, to the effect that
ata meeting cf the National Board cf the Communist Party-USA
(CPUSA) and invited guesrs held in New Ycerk City on that date,

‘that the Quakers were a key force in establishing united action
in variovs phases of peace activities. The source further
-advised that ©) IP s:ated that the Quakers censistently work
with the Party privately but not publicly.

issue of 1958, published hy the Welfare Ceuncil of Metropolitan
Chicago, describes the AFSC as having been established in 1917
and as representing the Religicus Society of Friends (Quakers)
in fields cf social acticn. The regicenal office jn Chicago
furthers the work cf the national committee in vrometing inter-
national, industrial und interracial understandin,". Local
activities include assastance fer programs of minvrities, a
peace edicaticn pregram, cperatiocn of interracial werk carps
and similar service units in State institutions.

Walk began at Glenview Naval Air Station; Glenviéw, Illinois,
on April 20, 1962. The walk proczeded via Evanstcn, Illinois,
where it remained on the evening of April 20, 1962. It con~
tinued on April 21, 1962, and arrived in the Chicago Leop at
approxicately 1:30 PM, April 21, 1962. Approxiwately 310
