Tuis article stated in part that the Ad Eee Student Comzittee for Travel to Cube wes forced October li, 1562 by 28 group of students from Rew Yor: City universities, the Universitr of Kisconsin, Oberlin Coiicge and the University of North Caroline, wha stcted thet as siucents they would like a chance to ses and evaluete the situsction in Cubs for themselves and hed received en offer of transportaticn and two weexs stay in Cube fron the Federation of University Students in Havens, es fuesig of the Federation. The Committes eccepted the offer and applied to the United States State Departrent for parcrort validation which was refused; however, over fifty stucenis plenned to defy the State Department ban and go to Cube. , A source advised on December 6, 1962 that curing December, 1962, 4% vas learmmed that the Ad Hoe Student Comittee for Travel to Cuba had recently been formed by the Progrescive Labor Group. A second source advised on Septezbsr 13, 1963 that a group of 59 ineivi- duels who had assembled in New York City, departed New York City by cir en June 25 1963 and treveled to Faris, France; Prague, Creshoslovakia: and then to Havens, Cuba. The group remained in Cuba until August 24, 1963, <t wich time they ceparted by air for New York City via Madrid, Spain. The group arrive. in New York City on August 29, 1963. The seme scurce advised that the leaders of the croup wers members of Progressive labor and the trip wes planned and orgenizcd by Progressive Lekor memnbsre. . , . Student Treve 1 Ben This Sumniere™ Tnis article sets forth in part that three members of the Student Committee for Travel to Cube spoke at an assembly aponsored by ths Progressive Labor Club of Columbia University. At this assexbly VICKI CRTLZ, Student Comnittea for Travel to Cuba campus representative, stated that the Federation of University Students in Havana had extended another invitation for 500 students to visit Cuba in 1964. Miss ORTIZ stated that the Student Committes for Travel to Cuba was, therefore, planning another trip to Cuba in July, 1964. -
