"The Jawish Fraternalist" dated October, 1947,

People's Fraternal Order (JPFO) of the International Workers
Order (IWO), om page 6, contained an article which reflected
that the Erma Lazarus Division (ELD) of the JPFO was to
hold its first cational convention in New York City on
November 15 and 16, 1947, after having been first established

The "Morning Freiheit" on January 25, 1951,
contained a report of the National Convention of the
ELD of tre JPFO which took place in New York City on
January 29 and 21, 21951. At this convention it was
noted that the ELD changed its name to Emma Lazarus _
Federation of Jewish Women's Clubs (ELF) and adopted
a new constitution.
On May 14, 1964, a source advised that the ELF is
one of several mass organizations comprising the Jewish
cultural progressive movement. JUNE GORDON, ELF Executive
Direstor, wno is a newber of the New York State Communist
Party (CP) Board and Committee, is the leading force in
the organization, whose leadership is largely made up of
Communists.
The source stated that the ELF claims to be for
peace and interested in protecting the rights of the foreign
born. It a against the BEN GURION Government of Israel,
bozb tests anti-Semitism, Negro discrimination, and the
rearnanen West Germany. .
The source related that the ELF renders support
to and receives support from the "Morning Freiheit™ and
other Jewish progressive organizations.
The source also stated that the ELF is recognized
by the CP, USA, aS an important progressive national
organization of women.
