oe oe rs PROGRE Sf TYE LABOR PARTY i} po A source advised OF April 20, 1865, that the Progressive Labor Party (PLP) formerly known as the Propressive Laker [ovement (FL), held its first national convertion April 15-18, 1965, at Kew Yerk City, to orgerize the Pi! into the PLP, The PL D will have as its ultimats objective the estcbltishccrt cf a militent WOrking clzss > movement based on Harxismr-Lerinisn. \ ; The “hew York Times," April 26, 1265, page 27, reported that a new part of “revolutionary socialism" was formally founded on April 18, 1865, under the name of the PLP, The PLP was described ar an outgrowth of the PLZ, Its officers were identified as Hilton Rosen of New york, President, and William Fptcn cf New ¥Yerk ard Mort Scheer of San Francisco, Vice Presicerts. <A 20-member National Cormittce was elected to Cirect the Party until the next conventicn. According to the article, "The Progressive Labor Movement was founded in 1962 by Lir. Rosen end Hr. Scheer | after they were expelled from the Communist Party of. the - United States for assertediy following the Chinese Communist line." The PLP published "Progressive Labor,'' a bimonthly magaizine; Nacraennpeen at Oe a biweekly New York City newpaper; and "Spark," a west coast newspaper. The June 1, 1965, issue of "Challenge," page 6, states, that, "this paper is dedicated to fight for a new | way of life where the working men and women own and control their homes, factories,-the police, courts, and the entire governnent on every level. " The source advised that the PLP utilizes the address of General Post Office Box 808, Brooklyn, New York, but also utilizes an office in Room 622, 132 Nassau Street, New York City, where the PLP publications are prepared.
