One hundred and seventy Americans from 41 states will leave from New York's
Kennedy Airport on March 3 for a- week-long conference with principals in the Paris
talks and others. Their objective is finding out what the requisites for paace in
Southeast Asia really are. |
The Citizens Conference on Ending the War in Indochina, as the project is
called, is sponsored by the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC), Clergy &
Laymen Concerned (CALC), and the Fellowship of Reconciliation (FOR).
Participating in this conference from the Pacific Northwest will be Marie
Chakirian, Cashmere, Washington, active in the Episcopal Chureh and various woren's
groups; Rudy Gilbert, Unitarian minister, Spokane; and Kenneth A. Kirkoatrick,
Director, Peace Education, Pacific Northwest Region, American Priends Service Com
mittee.
“The conference will afford a large number of American citizens access to and
thoughtful discussion with many persons long familiar with the Indochina struggle,"
explained Stewart Meacham, peace education secretary of the AFSC, "Wa hope that
