May I give myself a partial introduction by saying that I have -
been a professor at this College for twenty-four years and that

I should greatiy appreciate, answer to this question over your
signature. Is The-rriends Service Committee a subversive organizatior
I ask you this oueStion ve Cuuse,im the tirst week of June,i am
scheduled to appsar on a program jointly sponsored oy the rriencs
-Servive Committee and the State Coliece of sasnington, Neither the
College nor mysiff would wish to be associated with a subversive +
organization.
We had assumed thet the Friends Service Committee was entirely in
the clear and still t& lieve that it is, but a n&spener editor
has told one of my colleagues that it is practically communistic,
in particular in relation to its interest in peace. Hence my
question to you - is it subversive?
You know much etter than I do how much harmful talk 4s going
the rounds. If the friends Service Committees is in the clear, 1+
would be Mate helpful if we could make this declaration and on
aes - . Very sincerely yours,,
