interview, he provided the following information:
In late 1999, IVINS was asked by his commanding officer
to participate on a team to assist Biop&rt with potency testing for
the anthrax vaccine. This was an order that came from the General.
IVINS could not recall who the commanding officers were at the
time. The command was in contact with Po] Eom Bioport who
elicited the support of USAMRIID because they were having problems
with the potency of the anthrax vaccine. The acceptable potency
level was not acceptable for The Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
Erom
could not recall.
Initially,| sd avis met with representatives
from Bioport on several occasions. They met in Columbus, Ohio and
‘in Crystal City, Virginia. IVINS recalled i |
from Bioport attended these meetings. and IVENS also
traveled to Bioport's headquarters in Lansing, Michigan.
In the late 1990's, Bioport ran out of Vollum_1B spores
and[ _] requested spores from IVINS. IVINS supplied with
spores prepared in Leighton-Doi. [_|then telephoned IVINS
stating that all_their guinea pigs had died during the intradermal
challenge, and suspected _ that the reason was because the spores he
had sent Bioport were "too hot", meaning too virulent. IVINS then
sent Bioport more spore preparations grown in blood agar. Bioport
encountered the same results and stated that the second spore
preparations were also "too hot". IVINS recalled sending Bioport
preparations a third time, however could not recall the media used
