He stated, however, that Pacific Tankers!, Inc., part in the n. poti otions was handled by McCON®S, C.iRTER, WARFIELD, S. D. BECHTEL and ALLAN CAMERON. He also stated that he is not aware of the details of the actual negotiations in this matter. However, he believes that Pacific Tankers, Inc., was probably sold to ec foreign group of Greeks, whose . names are unknown to him. RI@BER stated that the purpose of Pacific. Tankers, Inc., wes to opernte surplus tenkers under an original plan to accumilate ebout hO ships. However, by the time they actually started operations they were able to acquire only two such surplus tankers. RIVBER further stetedc that the Barber O11 Corporation's total and final intcrest in Pacific Tankers, Inc., was 17%, which vas purchased for the purpose of investment and not to obtain control. HANGS, Olin Industrics, 570 Lexington Avenue, New York, New York, end WALTER FE. FOX, Assistant to JCHN ti. FRANKLIN, President of United States Lincs, 1 Broadway, New York, New York, edvised that Messrs. ILANGS and FRANKLIN were presently travelling outside of New York City. They further stated that they had been associated with Messrs. HANES and FRAUKELIN for many yeers as their administrative assistants and they could recall that Messrs. HANTS and FRANKLIN participated in Pacific Tankcrs, Inc., for the sole purpose of financiol investments and took no active part in the operation of thet concern, GREW LEY stated that, while JONN W. BANS, won a momber of the Lenrd of Directors of Pacific Tankers, Inc., his son, JCHN W. HANES, JR., actually owned the stock.
