AG AG DETAILS: Wayne Williams has been a subject in the Atkid investigation since 5/22/81, when agents and police officers on surveillance of the James - Jackson Bridge over the Chattahoochee River in Atlanta observed Williams on the bridge when a large object was thrown into the river. Two days later, on 5/24/81, the body of Nathaniel Cater was found in the Chattahoochee River, about two miles downstream from the bridge. Cater, whose body had been in the water several days, had been asphyxiated, according to the medical examiner.
