THE FIBER IN QUESTION IS MANUFACTURED BY WELLMAN COMPANY, FROM JOHNSONVILLE , SOUTH CAROLINA. IT IS REFERRED TO AS WELLMAN 131-3, NYLON FIBER. THE VEST POINT PEPPERELL CARPET COMPANY HaS MaDE COM- PARAT IVE TESTS aGAINST THE CaRPET REMOVED FROM SUBJECT'S RESIDENCE AND INDICATED THAT THE CARPET APPEARS TO BE THE SAME aS THEIR "LuxalRE” TYPE MANUFACTURED BY THEM IN 3971 AND 1972. THIS CARPET IS ENLGISH OLIVE GREEN AND IS 1@@ PERCENT 181-3 NYLOM FIBER. THE FIBER ITSELF WAS MANUFACTURED USING 181-3 BETWEEN 1967 AND 1974. THE CARPET HAS A PRIMARY BACKING WHICH IS SYNTHETIC, CARRYING THE COMMERCIAL CHEMICAL NAME OF "ITYPAR.” THE SECONDARY SACKING IS JUTE. THE PILE HEIGHT IS 11/32 SECONDS OF AN INCH. THE STITCH COUNT FOR THE SUBJECT’S CARPET IS 34 avd OVE HALF/3. THE GAUGE COUNT IS 6.5 PER INCH, THE FINISHED WEIGHT OF THE SUBJECT'S CARPET IS 13,95 OUNCES PER SQUARE YARD.
