Dear Mr. Miller:
This letter contains the results of
examinations conducted by Special Agent (SA) bX.
FBI Laboratory, as a part of the Jinmy Payne an athanie
Catec homicide investigations.
The following report deals with the preliminary
examination of fibrous materfals recovered from the body and
clothing of homicide victim, Jimmy Payne, Georgia Crime Laboratory
case 81-11621, and the comparison of these fibrous materials
with items obtained from the home, automobile and person of
Wayne B. Williams, Georgia Crime Laboratory case 81-14982.
A listing of the items discussed in this report can
be found in Laboratory reports of the Georgia Crime Laboratory
under the case numbers given above.
Three yellowish green nylon fibers were removed
from shorts taken from Payne, item number 2, One of these nylon
fibers exhibits the same microscopic characteristics and the
same optical properties as nylon fibers present “in the composition
of the carpet removed from Williams' bedroom, item number 196,
Two of these nylon fibers from Payne’s shorts have a
"bleached out" appearance but are generally like the nylon
fibers present in the Williams' bedroom carpet in microscopic
appearance and optical properties.
