In order to get a clearer perspective of this case, they
were advised to discuss the areas dealing with classified matters
with Mr. Michael Epstein, representative of the Senate Select Com-
mittee on Intelligence (SSCI), who is dealing with the classified
material. ,
In order to be responsive and to provide a chronological
and logical explanation of this investigation, aspects dealing
with sources and techniques were discussed in general terms.
Tiefer advised he would reduce his interview to memo-
randum form and requested it be reviewed, prior to having it placed
in the public record, to insure that no classified information is

furnished to the Director. They were advised that the file had been
reviewed on 7/31/80, for such information and were furnished the in-
formation set forth in R. T. Castonguay to E. J. O'Malley memorandum
dated 7/31/80. Tiefer indicated he would desire to explore the above
question further and was advised to coordinate this with Mr. R. Jd.
Bruemmer.
