was advised as to the identity of the interviewing Agent, the |
nature of the interview and that any information he might fur-
nish could be used in a court of law. Gambrell then volun-
tarily furnished the following information:
, He advised that his recollection, though hazy, con-.--~
cerning the Libyan Delegation visit to Atlanta, Georgia, in -
‘December, 1978, and the matter of any “Libyan-Arab-Georgia
Friendship Society" was to the effect that some weeks prior to
the delegation Billy Carter and/or his associate Randy Coleman ~
contacted him in a more or less offhanded manner as to what
could be done in the way of welcoming the delegation and who
all might be invited to a reception planned by Carter for them. |
He indicated that at various times there may have been brief ‘--- -
discussions in passing not necessary with Carter alone but with
others as well as to the possibility or probability of any
business venture being generated as a result of this “good will ~:

Gambrell stated that with regards to any document
pertaining to a "Libyan-Arab-Georgia Friendship Society" he
.. wecalls that either the day before or the day of the reception
_ for the Libyans Georgia State Senator Floyd Hudgins of Columbus,
Georgia, and an individual whose name he does not recall but was
apparently connected with the Libyan Delegation appeared at his
office and informed him that they wished to form some type of
an association which was not made clear to him but which he Lo
understood was to have been symbolic of friendship between Libya
and a group of individuals in Georgia. Gambrell stated that
.he informed Hudgins and his associate that not being familiar
enough with what exactly they had in mind and not knowing whom
the individuals or sponsors would be he could not draft such a
document for them. Gambrell stated that merely as a gesture
of courtesy on his part he did ask his secretary to draw up what
was a one paragraph type statement to the effect that “the under- |
