The Los Angeles . olice vepartment has undertaken to develop sus- pects among the medical and dental echools in the ares, as well as among other students who have anything to do with human anatomy. The University of Southern California Medical €chool was reluctant to turn over a list of their students to the police department without being assured that the names woul] not be indexed into police or FBI cecords as sus-~ pects in the case. This assurance has been given them, I am enclosing two copies of a list of the University of Southern California medical students, giving the name, address, MAdoot bee dat@and army or Navy compensation number where known. Those students with "c" muwnbers are in school under the G.I. Bill of Rights. It is requested that the Bureau search these nemes through the criminal record indices and in the event any criminal record is determined for any of these mon, a copy is recuested to be sent air mail to this office, It will be noted that eight names are preceded with an asterisk. In these cases, if a fingerprint card is located for the individual, it is re= quested that a photographic copy of fingerprints be furnished to this office by air mail as the Los Angeles Police Departsent Crime Laboratory has compared the handwriting of ‘these individuals with notes received in the case and has concluded that there is some similarity and they would like to be able to com pare latent fingerprints also. I feel that we can be of much assistance to the Los 4ngeles Police Department in this cass and the Bureauts expeditious attention fo 41 project will be sincerely appreciated by geeORDe A * ~4!
