PART II The following is a summary of BPP activities in the Charlotte-Division: The Free Breakfast for Children Program which began on 9/6/71, at BPP Headquarters, 1333 North Patterson Avenue, continues to feed approximately eight to ten children each day. This program is headed by MARY MCDONALD, wife of RUSSELL McDONALD), Mrs. MCDONALD is assisted by several neighborhood women volunteer _ The Program is in continuous difficulty, however, as the BPP : members have been eating most of the food donated for the program, leaving very little for the children. Trial of the "High Point Four", GEORGE DEWITT, RANDOLPH JENNINGS, BRADFORD LILLEY, and LARRY MEDLEY, commenced in High Point on 1/24/72. After disposing Of numerous motions by the defense, a jury was selected on 1/28/72, and the prosecution commenced presenting its case. It is anticipated tha the trial will last for several weeks. The BPP Chapter has been busy attempting to drum up support for the defendants and encourage attendance at the trial which has been very small to date.
