Sullivan RE: BLACK PANTHER ARTY, CHARLOTTE DIVISION 105-165706 Sub 8 We have been conducting an intensified investigation of the Black Panther Party (BPP) across the country in cooperation with local authorities and other Federal agencies, lthough ved in the arrests in this case & public to insure that these individuals receive swift justice, We did not have and do not have any electronic surveillances on any of the individuals involved or other members of their black extremist group. A review of the electronic indices discloses that two overhearings on an individual believed to be identical with ccurred on 9/10/69 and 9/15/69 when an individual by the same name telephonically contacted BPP national headquarters at Berkeley, California, and the San Francisco, California, BPP chapter. Since the AUSA has only requested an affidavit concerning electronic coverage on the three individuals and the two addresses as set forth above, it is felt that the Special Agent in Charge, Charlotte, should furnish an affidavit specifically stating that there was no _no personal coverage on these three individuals or the two addreSséS5 and that at the same time he should orally inform the AUSA regarding the two overhearings.
