The Panther members continue their policy of traveling to various cities throughout the State of North Carolina to sell their papers. On 10/25/72, the Winston Salem BPP Chapter received word that the Panther Chapter was the beneficiary of a $7,000 insurance policy on one of its former members, JOSEPH E. WADDELL. WADDELL was a member of the Winston Salem BPP for a short time prior to his arrest for Armed Robbery in High Point, N. C. On 1/20/72, WADDELL was convicted of Armed Robbery and sentenced to 15-20 years imprisonment. WADDELL was confined to Central Prison, Raleigh, N. C., following his conviction. On 6/13/72, while confined to Central Prison, WADDELL died of a heart attack. Subsequently, the BPP attempted to make an issue cf his death, contending that WADDELL was in excellent health when he entered prison and that his death was a result of the treatment he received while in prison, During 10/72, the Panther members continued in their efforts of soliciting food for the Survival Day rally being planned for 12/72. The tentative date for the rally has been changed from 12/17/72, to 12/10/72, at Winston Salem, N. C. Sources reported that donations for the rally are on the increase and the Panther members are optimistic about attaining their goal of giving away 5,000 bags of groceries on that date. The BPP plans to advertise a turkey in everybag for the rally. B. FOREIGN SOURCES None reported. C.
