State Prison unable to raise their appeal bonds. The third
Panther, BRADFORD LILLY, was released during August, 1972,
pending appeal of the charges.
It should be noted that CQ 2.3vised on
| eee the BPP presently has some rifles and
pistols stored at BPP Headquarters, 1333 N. Patterson Avenue,
Winston-Salem, N. C. Other weapons are stored in houses in
close proximity to BPP Headquarters. The intent of BPP is
unknown as no discussions have been held regarding any specific
asSignments which would require the use of weapons.
Source further advised that the BPP recently received
correspondence from the National Headquarters at Oakland,
Califorriia, which instructed the local party to defend the
Headquarters at all costs. The local party was admonished
for allowing police officers to search the Headquarters Last
year and directed the locals never to allow this to happen
again.

Discussions have recently been held at the BPP
Headquarters at Winston-Salem regarding the possibility of
instituting a firearms training program; however, there was
| no indication that this program would be established in the
near future as no concrete proposals were made nor was there
any indication that additional discussions would be held in
this regard.
An unknown member of the BPP is planning to or is
in the process of observing the area where the Winston-Salem
Resident Agency is located and where the FBI cars are parked.
This unknown member of the BPP also wishes to observe the
FBI Agents who work at the Winston-Salem Resident Agency.
The purpose of this planned observation is unknown.
BPP wishes to continue its Survival Day Programs
in the future as a means of winning over the black community.
