These shells were be obtained fr the District attorney's Lr Office in Los Angeles, wno previously received them from the Reverly Hills Police Department. No specific request has baen made of the Laboratory rela- tive to what comparison is desired at this time. It is felt, however, that all carbine guns coming to the attention of the Bureau Offices in hoodlum centers in the United States should be forwarded to the Taboratory and appropriate examinations conducted in an effort to locate the killer's gun. It is suggested, therefore, that New York, Chicago, Detroit, Miami, Salt Lake City, Phoenix and San Francisco = be alerted to recover carbines for the purpose of the above examina- a tion.
