It was stated that these. cartridge cases were found on the crounds at the scene of the murder of captioned subject in Beverly Hills, California on June 20, 1947. The Laboratory was requested to examine these cartridge gases for possible comparison purposes at a later date with firearms of the same caliber. « B: letter dated October 2, 1947,:the Bureau advised that an examination had Deen made of trese cartridge cases aid it wes de- termined thet marks on the eases were ot sufficientl: distinct for comparison with test specimers from susnected carbines. A few simi- —, larities were found between tne extractor marks on two cases but i the: were of such a nature that it was not possible to identify, these cases as having veen loaded into or extracted from the same weapon. It was stated that it maz be possible to identify the ex- tractor marizs on these cases from tests of suspected weavons.
