When we got about 6 miles Korth of Ashland we were passing an Army Convoy and were stopped by another Virginia State ‘"rooper anc he advised that he hed checked us at 8G mph. Again Mr. Burgess! immunity was recogrized anc we were allowed to proceed with & warning to stay within the speed limit, gd "Ke stopped at Ashland and had a Coce-cola and he requested me to drive. JI did, anc we proceeded South through Petersburg on Route 301. When we were about 10 miles South of Fetersburg we were etopped by County Officer aia of the Prince Georges County police, and being the driver I was charged with speeding “t( @ 80 mph. "£11 during the time Mr. Burgess kept on telling m to step on it. On several occasions J told hin we were going too fast and if we were caught I would have to take the consequences. He told me each time tnat he would take the responsibility and he had diplometic imaunity, and all the police would do would be to ask me #) to slow it down, and we would go On our waye ( "TJ am making this trip with Mr. Burgess at his expense. T have teen knowing him 8 long time, severd years in fact, and I drive and tow motor cars for Gilbert's Motor Sales, Patterson, New Jersey.
