Mr. Heath told Members that
messages purporting to come
from Mr. Philby had been re-
ceived by his wife from “ be-
hind the Eron Curtain.”
Mr. Heath recalled Mr.
Philby’s disappearance from the
Lebanon about which a state-
ment was made in March.

with the messages received by

when he left Beirut Mr. Philby
might have gone to one of the
countries of the Soviet bloc.
