NICHGLS / oa 7 RE, JUVENILE DELINQUENCT ARCHBISHOP FRANCIS J.4 SPEALMAN Ye een = Dear Sir: ~ * On July 10, 1944, had Juncheon at the Episcopal Residence of Archbishop Franc a Speliman of bide Hew York City. Tile matters were discussed ina the Archbishop, which discussions have been nade the subject of another comme nication to the Bureau, the Archbishop aleo mentioned the fact that in the meer future, he expects to write an article on the subject of “Juvenile Delinguency.” The Archbishop stated that he had read with great interest the Director's speeches written for delivery at Holy Cross College, Worcester, Massachusetts, and his speech delivered to the Annual Convention of the Daughters of the American Revolution. He atated likewise that he hed seen articles of the Direstor’s on the subject of juvenile delinquency. He further advised that in bis opinion, the Director's approach to the problem wee in practically wll effects, the same as hie approach. He added that beomuse of the Bureau's being a natural repository of law enforoement infor- mation, it was quite possible the Bureau hed in its possession specific cases which could be used in further articles to illustrate the necessity for the waintenance of the proper home life, school life, and ohureh life of the juveniles of the United States in order to prevent the rise of juvenile (! delinquency.
